Acrylic paint on Silk Screen

This large painting is made using a really large silk screen as the surface, the type used for printing posters or images on t-shirts.  A shop in San Francisco was upgrading their screens to be made with aluminum sides instead of wood sides like this one.  This is my first painting using these big screens and the silk really acts as a glassy surface to play with the paint on.  As I splattered paint around by dripping on top of smaller sculptures and leaving traces on the screen, what emerged was a large head that looked very African in nature with the tight hair curls and the long stretched neck.  I also added a flying pizza slice UFO which was something I was doing a lot of at that time.  And it felt great to create a community scene of a diverse group having a good time.  The title and the painted letters talk bubble were to add some further whimsy like a nursery rhyme and to give the main character more life.
