Found objects, mixed media – woman’s X-large heels, ceramic figure, hollow-core door cutouts, wooden deer, candy heart boxes, wood, and paint.

This was a fun piece that came together from a lot of different sources.  I think it started when I found a pile of X-large woman’s dress shoes on the side of the road.  I was fascinating because of the size of the shoes.  I had been noticing how many shoes appear on the street at any given time and these ones certainly stood out.  I cut up a hollow door to make some wings and with the heart shapes, it became an homage to two lovers.  In this photograph, you cannot see the two portraits very well inside the heart shapes, but I feel like this tells the story of living together over many years in relationship and in love.
